Striking early: Microsoft Student Partners

It’s a common tune amongst students to be worried about the future. Not everyone is sure of what job they want, what they want to be, where they want to go, etc. And for those love technology and who look at Microsoft as the opportunity they want for the future… You don’t have to wait to be involved. You can join the Microsoft Student Partners!

What is it?

It’s a Microsoft program for students!  In this program you’d be a Microsoft
Evangelist on campus! You’d get access to Microsoft technologies and be
encouraged to share it with your peers and develop your skills developing it!
You’d be able to be able to access a portal to the latest news, events, and
resources and get benefits like software, training and information about future
opportunities! Hopefully you’d get the spark of inspiration to create and
innovate with the Microsoft technologies, you’d be able to grow and develop in
many ways; you’d be able to work with other MSP’s from your university and
launch events in campus as well! The sky is the limit! As long as you have the
drive and passion, you’d be able to do great things with Microsoft as a Student
Partner.

We, interns to MACH, are given the opportunity to join
the Microsoft Student Partners without going through the evaluation process of
the normal MSP’s. In that way we could continue to connect with Microsoft in
our respective countries and continue to do all sort of other projects with
them! We had a sharing session with fellow MSP compatriot, Chung Siong Tan, and
Development Evangelist, Yizhe Shen, from Singapore.  They talked about orchestrating the Microsoft  College Connect in Singapore. It’s a Facebook fan page with add-ons they did  themselves. Its purpose was to connect with the college community in Singapore.  And so they have quizzes and give-aways, and also keep the community informed  of their doings. They gave away all sorts of things like keyboards, xbox,
kinect, mouse’s, bags, ice-cream, cool shirts and fluffy toys!  They didn’t expect their site to grow so  active so fast, and now they have more than 8000 fans! And these fans are super  active with their quick comments and creative entries!  They even got a mascot: these big fluffy  rabbits called lemon, mango, etc. These adorable bunnies were all over the  office and it was so fun playing with them at work! But now the bunnies have  been given away to their respective homes. =( But we can see how much fun the
team has and how it impacted their lives for the better!
