Role and explanation of role: Junior Project Manager. My role is to provide support to engagement and project managers on Microsoft Consulting Services projects.
What you like about Microsoft/ what makes it unique:
The thing I mostly like about Microsoft is the relaxed working atmosphere. This surprised me when I came to Microsoft as being a large global company I thought it would be a corporate and stressful work place. Microsoft really respects the work life balance. It may be relaxed but it is a very productive workplace with the best and brightest people who create and achieve great solutions and results within technology and this continues to happen day in and day out. I really like the way that Microsoft let their people make projects their own whether it is a Microsoft business aimed project or one that you may have started yourself to improve a process. This flexibility allows you to be creative and put your imagination into the project to model the project where you see fit and how you feel it would really benefit, whether you doing it for the business, Microsoft partners or the Microsoft customers.
Good experiences and projects so far:
The most interesting experience of working at Microsoft so far has been one of my projects. I have recently done research on a subject which the Director of Microsoft Consulting Services was presenting at the PDS summit. This was a great experience for me as it gave me visibility and an opportunity to work for the head of my department. As well as this, it gave me the chance to meet people from around the business which gave me the opportunity to look at all kinds of interesting areas for my research but also to network and understand other areas of the business. I got to know the company, meet lots of people and learn what they do to keep this GREAT company running!
